Are you surprised? Us too, a little bit.
It’s all happening a little sooner than we ‘planned’ but we’re excited!
This week I’ll be 16 weeks. Thankfully, I finally feel human again. Getting to this point has been… rough.
Sure, I remember being struck HARD by first trimester fatigue when I was pregnant with Colin, but DANG it’s harder when there’s a toddler to entertain. I remember the nausea last time, but this hit a whole new level. We booked lots of travel this spring before realizing I was pregnant. Not just short, quick trips… cross country flights to Boston & Florida + a week long vacation in Arizona. I didn’t fly during my first trimester last time so I had no idea that I’d be a complete MESS. [Case in point: Our trip to Arizona. I threw up twice before we got to the airport, then once in the bathroom near ticketing, once in the bathroom near the gate, once in the DOGGY BAG in my seat during takeoff [so. gross.], twice in the airplane bathroom, once at the rental car facility, and seconds after setting foot in the vacation house. I wish I was exaggerating. After that trip, I broke down and asked my doctor for medication. He prescribed Zofran, which has been a miracle for our subsequent flights.]
All that to say… hooray for the second trimester! Hooray for being able to cook dinner last night FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWELVE WEEKS. [… poor John & Colin.] Hooray for having the energy to pick up my camera… write blog posts… update my Project Life… do the laundry… clean the [very neglected] house… and become a functioning member of society! And hooray for more baby snuggles coming our way!
A few of the ‘usual’ questions:
Are you going to find out the gender?
YES! We didn’t find out with Colin, but we want to find out this time!
Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?
I’m not sure. Since they will be almost exactly 2 years apart (Colin turns two in November), it would be so fun to have a brother for Colin. But then again, it would be fun to have a girl since there hasn’t been one in my husband’s family for… maybe 3 or 4 generations?
Have you picked out names?
Yes! We shared them with family, but I’m going to keep it quiet online [sorry].
Does Colin know what’s happening?
No, not at all. I guess that’s the beauty of having them close together.
How is Colby Jack handling the news?
Poor guy. He’s still warming up to the idea of a second sibling. But we love him as much as always.
Will you still be coming back to Minnesota for holiday mini sessions this fall? [haha!]
I haven’t decided. When I found out I’d be due in October, one of my first thoughts was BUT I WAS SUPPOSED TO GO BACK TO MN FOR MINI SESSIONS IN OCTOBER! [no, seriously.] I’d really like to make the trip, but it would have to be much earlier. Potentially early August. Would people still be interested in getting their holiday photos that early? Let me know!
What will your fall shooting calendar look like in Seattle?
I will take clients until the beginning of September. Then I will be taking maternity leave through the end of the year. I WILL be offering mini sessions for holiday cards here in Seattle, FOR SURE. If you want to be first to find out- like Miss Freddy on Facebook or subscribe to my blog!
