If you’re like most people, your camera roll has gotten out of control… tens of thousands of photos, screenshots, blurry shots, and random images all jumbled together. Every time you open your photo library, instead of delight, you feel overwhelmed. Those precious moments, like your kids’ milestones, family vacations, and little everyday joys, get lost in the mess. But what if cleaning it all up could be simple, quick, and even fun? Enter: The Daily Delete.

The Daily Delete: A Tiny Habit To Transform Your Photo Library
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by state of your photo library, you’re not alone. This little trick will help you tame the chaose… little by little… in just a few minutes a day. I call it The Daily Delete.
The idea is simple: each day, type today’s date into your photo library’s search field and delete the junk. Screenshots you no longer need, blurry shots, duplicates… toss them. Make the decisions.
Want to see a live demo? You can see it here. Even though I use iCloud/Apple Photos, the trick also works in Google Photos.
The Daily Delete… or Daily Delight?
I know what you might be thinking: “Deleting photos sounds like a chore.” But here’s the secret: it’s actually a treat. The Daily Delete brings long forgotten memories back to you and it’s so fun to pause and relive them. I frequently find myself texting a photo to a friend, sparking a conversation, and creating a little moment of connection. It’s a gift.
Extra Credit: use this time to heart the really good ones too! Favorites will help you long-term as you want to use your photos. For example, when you want to create a 2024 photo book… search for “2024, favorites” and just put those photos on the pages. Even easier? Buy a digital frame, link it to favorites, and it automatically updates!
But first… get all your photos in ONE place!
Before you start this habit, do the work of bringing all your photos into one place (I call it your photo hub). That way, you’re deleting from your complete collection and making more progress. If you want guidance on how and where to build your photo hub, my Backup Bootcamp™ course walks you through it step by step.
So next time you think about scrolling mindlessly on social media, try this instead… type in today’s date and do a few minutes of daily delete.
