I spend a LOT of hours in my home office. As a professional photo organizer, my workspace is more than just a desk—it’s the command center for running my business, helping clients, and keeping my own digital life in order. Over the years, I’ve acquired a few items that keep me productive, comfortable, and (of course) organized. Here are some of my favorite office items!

My Favorite Office Items

Let’s start with the computer-related items on my desk. I use both a desktop computer and a laptop, on a regular basis. For both I really love using a stand to lift it higher off the desk.

Computer-Related Accessories

My laptop rests on this stand which helps it be closer to my eye level and allows air to circulate keeping it cooler. I really love this thing and bonus, it’s super affordable.

My desktop stand has a few more bells and whistles. Sure, it lifts the screen to be at the eye level I prefer, but it also has 3 USB ports on the front, 1 USB-C port, slots for multiple memory card sizes, and a headphone jack. Can I tell you how much more convenient it is to have access to these in the FRONT of my iMac so I don’t have to crawl around behind it and try to plug in flash drives? I love this stand so much!

Next to my desktop I also have two of these light stands. I tried using ring lights for years, but much prefer the light provided by this design. They’re super flexible. I have one on each side of my desktop screen, but you could also just get one and have it placed horizontally above the screen if you prefer.

One accessory I use ALL the time with my laptop is this usb-c hub. Because it plugs into both ports on the side of my Macbook Pro, it’s much more stable so attached devices aren’t getting rattled or unplugged. It allows memory cards, multiple USBs, and can charge through it (if your Mac uses a USB-C charger). I almost always have a photo scanner attached with this hub.

The final must-have item always near my computer is a solid state external hard drive. I’ve talked in depth about external hard drives on my blog if you’d like to learn more!

Other Electronic Gadgets or Accessories

Next, let’s chat about an item that’s always on my desk because I use it every day. My Remarkable tablet! I currently have the Pro model, but after owning both I think the Remarkable 2 is a better place to start. I love this device SO much. It has helped me go completely paperless in my business and organize all my random handwritten notes in one space. It connects seamlessly with my phone and computers so I can always access my notes on the go. I shared more about how I use my Remarkable Tablet here.

Since I frequently create behind the scenes content, I find this iPhone stand really helpful. I can set it in my office to film while I’m scanning or working on a photo organizing project. Hands free! It can also hold an iPad so it’s actually really great for playing movies or facetiming the grandparents too!

This one feels silly, but maybe just try it. Under my desk I have this foot massager. Getting a foot massage while sitting in a long Zoom meeting makes the whole day better. It has a handy remote so I don’t have to bend under my desk to control it.

Organizing Accessories

These magnetic cord ties are a must for wrangling all the cords in my office! I have so many scanners, drives, camera gear, video players, and more… so understandably there are tons of cords to manage. These little magnetic things are so useful I keep them all through the house, not just in the office.

Last but not least I love these fireproof document bags for storing client work while it’s onsite in my office. The handle makes it easy to transport when I need to move it around my office for various scanning projects, but it also makes it easy to grab and go in an emergency. I talked more about being prepared for a natural disaster in this post, but these fireproof bags bring me some peace of mind.
